Pulled or Torn Quad
You can experience a quadriceps pull or strain when one of the four muscles on the front of your thigh are over-stretched or torn. Because the quads are the body's largest muscle, and you use your quads for practically all movement, this kind of injury is both common, and easily re-aggravated.
Keys to Quad Recovery
Try to minimize sudden stops and starts and be careful while slowing down.
As with any healing process, proper circulation is necessary to remove excess fluids and toxins that accumulate. This swelling and inflammation need to be reduced before healing can occur. Once circulation is restored, the body can recover naturally and efficiently.
Minimize the use of ice. Despite being the most popular acute injury treatment, using ice has some significant drawbacks. The advantage of ice is that it helps limit swelling (compared to doing nothing) in the first 48 hours of an injury. However, it does this by reducing circulation - circulation which is essential for healing. The other drawback of ice is that, if overdone, you can damage the skin.
Wearing a Recovery Wrap enhances both blood and energy circulation, while helping minimize swelling. As a result, all of the Chi products suggested promote efficient, natural quad recovery.

Quad Maintenance
Keeping range of motion and flexibility is essential. Many quad injuries occur during deceleration - the quads help bring the body to a stop. If the quad is inflexible or overly taxed, it can pull or tear. To help in preventing this, keep the quad supple throughout its range of motion.
The following Chi Therapies are maintenance and prevention techniques, but can also aid in recovering from a quad pull. Once you feel comfortable lightly moving your quad, you can try the following movement to improve lower body chi (energy) circulation. Prior to doing any physical movements or therapies, we recommend consulting your doctor. To maximize the benefit of the above movements, use Foot and Leg Energizer Spray as directed.
